Hi there having browsed your Historical Notes section, i was interested in the Military Composer info.
However i could not find my G/G/G/Dad JAMES KING 1808-1888
Who enlisted at the age of 13 with the ROYAL STAFF CORPS as a Bugler, became the BANDMASTER to the 5th DRAGOON GUARDS 1829-1850, while researching my family/tree i discovered JAMES KING had composed well over 40 scores, including Military marches e,g THE 5th Dragoon Guards Parade Galop
in the year 1859-1863 he was the BANDMASTER to the BURTON RIFLES, then in 1863-1870 BANDMASTER to the DERBYSHIRE YEOMANRY, i can verify all his military history & his service with the B/Rs & D/Y & his compositions which are all held at the British Library
